A BBQ lunch @ Fernshaw Park

We took the car for it's first real family drive today - to one of my favourite places-Fernshaw Park, just past Healsville on the Black Spur. This is a place we have met up with friends for years now. Originally we used this park as our resting spot after a bush walk during the day. These days, we meet simply for the company .
The park was narrowly missed by the fires last year. From where we were sitting, we could see burnt trees on the other side of the river. Literally less than 100m away! Some of these trees were planted 120 years ago by the first settlers in the area. It would have been a huge loss if these brilliant trees had been lost.

All of these pictures were taken by the children. What a fabulous job they did. !
